Some/all printers that use that driver also need firmware to be loaded after every power cycle. That's the renderer that cups is trying to use but can't. That all adds cost to page rendering devices, so low end products skip that and expect the page to be rendered for them. Its up to whatever is doing the rendering to interpret the PostScript and do the best job it can. The entire Linux world works with PostScript for printing. My next attempt was ghostscript-gpl which did install but no help. I also tried to emerge hplip and foo2zjs but iinstall failed because of some configuration and related messages. I also emerged "foomatic-db-ppd" but it did not provide driver. There was also a message about ghostscript, but it disappeared, so I could not copy it. By the way, processing advanced to at least 55%. I gues the message is for the last job that I cancelled because it did not print. Copied the same ppd file that worked on my old computer (Fedora-3), but after printing the test page the printer section reports: Quote:įoomatic/foo2zjs-z2 (recommended) Idle - "Filter failed" Installed cups, and trying to set up my HP P1102w printer using cups web interface. Now it is the printer capability that is not working.
